Yacsiri Goicochea

I have been working in bilingual mental health since 2018 and have gained experience working with people from different backgrounds and cultures. I earned my BA in Psychology from Georgia State University in May 2021 and completed a certificate in gerontology in May 2024, which reinforced my passion for supporting older adults and addressing the emotional and psychological challenges that can arise across the lifespan. I am also certified in anger management and am committed to helping people develop responsibility, greater emotional awareness and healthier coping strategies. I became interested in counseling because I want to challenge the stigmas and taboos about mental health that are often internalized through upbringing, cultural beliefs and generational expectations. I believe that many adults carry unexpressed pain or concerns for years, and I value creating a space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences without being judged.

 

In addition to my clinical training, I support the day-to-day operations of the Atlanta Counseling Institute, assisting with the coordination of clinical admissions and mental health assessments. I work closely with clients, health professional clinicians, and attorneys, and focus on collaboration, clear communication, and ethical practice in both clinical and legal settings. Currently, I am completing my clinical practicum as part of my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. My approach is client-centered and evidence-based, with an emphasis on personal growth, accountability, and long-term behavior change, and my goal is to provide empathetic, structured care that respects the clinical integrity and lived experience of each client.
